Organize the data streams

Spatial Workshop provides access to local data sources (i.e. database access) as well as sources over the Internet.

Spatial Workshop distinguishes different data streams to handle data sources with different characteristics in an optimal way. It allows you to organize your data sources within Spatial Workshop to your needs:

  • Foreground data: the data that of most interest for you. In general access to the data will be fast. You'd like to see, analyze and report it quickly.
  • Background data: the data that is the context of your foreground data.
  • Analysis data: the results of queries and analysis, which you can handle and display as separate entities.

You can set drawing order, styles and scale ranges for foreground, background and analysis data independently. Background data will be shown 'behind' foreground, not obscuring the important information.

Resilient data access: online or offline

Spatial Workshop offers direct access to its data sources, whether online, whether in a Local Area Network or when accessing local files. Spatial Workshop constantly tracks the availability and status of its sources. Spatial Workshop gives a real-time spatial view on the data in your organization.

Spatial Workshop indicates which business objects will be affected when data streams change. This is a critical facility for any circumstances where the system is used in environments where online connections are not always available. The system will allow the user to continue with his work when data sources change.
As soon as the data sources become available Spatial Workshop will reconnect and inform the user.

Spatial Workshop offers resilient functionality, even in changing and potentially unreliable circumstances.
